U13 GIRLS CAPTURE INDOOR SESSION 1 CROWN

U18 GIRLS ADVANCE TO WISCONSIN STATE CUP FINALS

BSA was well represented at the State Cup Tournament with two successful teams.  With a small roster anyway, the U18’s entered the tournament with two key players out with injuries.  They opened their first game of group play with only 12 players converting a 0-2 deficit at halftime to a 4-2 win over Appleton.  In their second game they faced Elm Grove Premier.  Starting the second half with a 1-0 lead they found themselves down to 10 players on the field with about 20 minutes remaining in the game.  They managed to find the net and only sacrifice one goal to win the game with a final score of 2-1.  They advanced to the semifinals with a final win of 5-1 over Stevens Point.

In the semifinals, the BSA U18’s took on FC Milwaukee White.  Halftime found the BSA team down by a goal with a 1-0 score.  But as FC acknowledged, “Brookfield wouldn’t quit” and answered with an early second half goal.  FC went on to score another forcing BSA to find the net yet again for a 2-2 regulation tie.  Two 15 minute over-time periods followed regulation play with each team scoring a goal in the first period.  With only four or five minutes left in the second period FC again found success.   BSA pulled everything out and with incredible teamwork and pressure on the ball was able to fire one in with 30 seconds remaining in overtime.  All four BSA shooters were able to find their mark while a save by our keeper and a shot over the net by FC contributed to the final win in penalty kicks.  The BSA U18 advances to the finals in Oshkosh on October 4th  at 4:00 pm at Titan Stadium.

BSA’s U17 team drew a difficult draw in group play and dropped their first game against the Madison 56ers.  They came back to take both their second game 2-1 against Neenah and their third game 5-0 against Cedarburg. The Madison 56ers would go on to advance to the finals in Oshkosh.

Both teams are coached by Ryan Schmidt.

Brookfield Soccer Association announced today the hiring of eight new select coaches for the Fall 2009/Spring 2010 soccer season. The list includes 2009 Wisconsin Soccer Association Hall of Fame inductee Mike "Paco" Cox as well as 2006 Milwaukee Journal Sentinel High School Coach of the Year Tomislav Markovic. Also joining the staff are current Milwaukee Wave players Chad Burt, Jacek Prezdnowek, and Tenzin Rampa, Brookfield Central Girls Varsity Assistant Coach Riley Mewes, USSF National "C" licensed coach and Scottish native Rob MacNeill, and USSF National "B" licensed coach Ryan Schmidt.

"This a major step forward for our select program," said BSA Select Director of Coaching Art Kramer. "All eight of these coaches bring something unique to the program. It's a tremendous blend of youth and experience including current and former professional players, a Hall of Famer, a JS High School Coach of the Year and Nationally licensed coaches."

CRIVELLO OBTAINS USSF NATIONAL "B" COACHING LICENSE

If Frank Crivello was seen running to and from his mailbox these past few weeks, one could hardly blame him. Crivello recently participated in the USSF National "B" coaching course at the Home Depot in Los Angeles, California. This past week, Crivello received the good news via certified mail that he passed the course. "In the nine days I spent at the US Soccer National B Coaching school, I genuinely feel I left a better coach than when I arrived there," said Crivello. "Being awarded the USSF National "B" License is an achievement I am very proud of.  I am excited to bring what I have learned home to our players and coaches in Brookfield."

BSA Coaching Director Art Kramer knows full well the rigors of the USSF course. "The program is extremely difficult and demanding both psychologically and physically. You have to prove to the USSF staff coaches that you can coach at a high level, in addition to participating as a player for 8 to 10 hours a day. On behalf of BSA, I congratulate Coach Crivello on this outstanding achievement."

DEFENDING CHAMPS TAKE FIRST STEP

The U18 boys traveled to Madison this past weekend to begin group play in the Wisconsin State Cup. Led by a stingy defense and solid goalkeeping from All-State keeper Dan Donovan, the Reds escaped with a hard fought 1-0 victory over the 56ers. Donovan was instrumental in the Reds championship run last season, blanking the Croatians 1-0 in the final. Croatian Head Coach Tomislav Markovic felt Donovan was the difference in last season’s title game. “Donovan made a couple of great saves early that seemed to set the tone for the entire match,” said Markovic.

Donovan, who will attend the University of Wisconsin in the fall, is looking for his third consecutive championship between the pipes. This past fall he led Marquette HS to the Wisconsin State Division I title.

U18 REDS DOWN BARRINGTON IN REGIONAL LEAGUE PLAY

Robbie Boyd's free kick from 25 meters proved to be the difference as the Reds U18 defeated Barrington 2-1 Saturday in Regional League play. Boyd's no stranger to success on the pitch. Along with All-State Goalkeeper Dan Donovan and midfielder Steven Pentler, Boyd was a key player for the Marquette HS team that recently captured the Wisconsin State High School Division 1 soccer championship. Boyd will play college soccer next season at University of California, Santa Barbara. "Robbie adds a lot of experience and firepower to the line-up. He is explosive and can be a game changer at any time. He has fit in really well with the guys," said Reds skipper Lee Rogers. With the win the Reds improved their Midwest regional league record to 3-1.

REDS VS. ARSENAL!!!

U12 Reds to Battle Tosa Arsenal

When the headlines came out, some wondered whether the English Premiership had made its way to Milwaukee.  While that's not the case, a match-up with many story lines will take place as Rob Williams U12 BSA Reds travel to Wauwatosa to take on Coach Ian Favill and the Tosa Arsenal. This game features two teams whose players joined forces and competed as the Brookfield Ballerz during the third session at the Brookfield Indoor Soccer Complex. There was plenty of chatter leading up to the game regarding field location and the decision to change venues from Fairview to Krueger, and how that decison may impact the psyche of the Reds. "I believe our lads will show up and play hard. We have a lot of respect for Tosa and we look forward to the competition," said BSA Director of Coaching Art Kramer.  "Coach Williams and Coach Favill are both organized and their teams are well prepared. There aren't many secrets when these two meet," added Kramer.

Regardless of the outcome, both teams will gather post game to celebrate the birthday of Arsenal star Kyle Martin, whose mother Jessica is baking some delicious cupcakes for the players to enjoy after the match. Kickoff is set for 5:45 at Krueger Park.

U11 Reds Win Madison Tournament

Three other BSA teams advance to semifinals

The U11 Boys Red team dominated bracket play and cruised to a convincing win in the final of the Reddan Spring Shootout to capture BSA’s first outdoor tournament championship in 2009. The Reds and Head Coach Danny Michuda relied on a tenacious defense and balanced attack, outscoring their opponents 26-1. “From the opening game, the boys made it obvious they were focused and wanted this tournament. They are excited and it’s nice to get off to a good start,” said Michuda.

In other Spring Shootout action, BSA U14, U15 and U16 boy’s teams all advanced to the semis as the Reds went undefeated in bracket play. Coach Frank Crivello’s U15 team and Coach Jason Burdge’s U16 squad both returned hardware by advancing to the tournament finals, with the U16 champ decided by penalty kicks. The U14 Boys team from BSA, coached by KJ MIchel finished the tournament with a 3-1 record.

As a club, the BSA Reds went 13-2-3 at the Reddan Spring Shootout.

Interested in having a web site for your select team? Then use eteamz which is a free service and simple to use. The recommended naming convention for your eteamz site is 'BSASELyyxz, where yy is the initial birth year of the age group for theh players on the team, i.e., 92 for 1992-1993), x is B for boys or G for girls, and z is R for a Red team or W for a White team. So, the name would be something like BSASEL89BR and BSASEL90GW. When your team has a site setup, send the link to the select administrator so the link can be added to this page.
