INFORMATION ON BSA RECREATIONAL LEAGUES

BSA Recreational teams have volunteer coaches, assistant coaches and managers.  The recreational league playing season begins after Labor Day, takes a break for winter, resumes in early spring and ends with the Bob Buss Club Tournament in late May or early June. Games are played on Saturdays, anytime between 9am and 4pm, and last about one hour. BSA tries to schedule 7 or 8 games for each season.  There is usually one mid-week game scheduled each season. Practices are scheduled on weekday evenings at area parks and schools. Recreational teams are limited to one practice per week during the playing season. All practices and games for U7 through U10 are held in Brookfield. U6 through U10 recreational teams are in BSA leagues where they play each other in fall and spring.

Teams at U12 and above play in the WARS league (Waukesha Area Recreational Soccer), which includes teams from the neighboring communities of Waukesha, Elm Grove, Sussex, and Menomonee Falls, Genesee, Oconomowoc.

The U6 program, (Kindergarten age players; players turning 6 between August 1st and July 31st)   in the fall, has a clinic followed by a game on Saturdays, then in the spring, each team has a practice during the week (see above) and a game, no clinic, on Saturdays.  BSA does allow 4K players to sign up, (players turning 5 between August 1st and July 31st) with the understanding that they will play in U6 for two years.  U7 is typically first graders, U8 second graders, etc..

BSA Registration and Team Formation

Registration takes place in May for the following fall season. Players who register in May are guaranteed a place on a team. Brookfield Soccer has Online registration (see main page of website) where you can register and pay the registration fee with a credit card.  A hardcopy form is also available if you prefer to download it and pay by check.  After June 15th, players may register but registrations may be held until it is certain there is space available in your child's age division.

Players are placed on teams according to their birth dates. Age brackets fall between August 1 and the following July 31.  Recreational players must play with their designated age groups. The exception is players with August birth dates. They may request permission to play with their school grade.   Players can never play down to their grade (if a player's grade puts them in a lower soccer age group then their birthdate puts them, then they must play with their birthdate age).  This is a national soccer rule.

Players are notified of their team assignments and practice schedules in late August. Players receive the location of their teams practice through their coach, and schedules for league games are distributed at the first practice. The club strives to balance player ability and experience throughout the teams in each age division. Recreational teams are newly formed each year to help achieve this balance. All players are expected to play at least half of every game, except in cases of injury or discipline. Sorry, we cannot honor requests for players to be placed with friends or for carpooling.  (exception is at U6, you can request one other person to be on the same team as your child and U12 and U14.)

Uniforms are included as part of player registration. Your child will receive a uniform consisting of a shirt, shorts, and socks. You will need to provide your child with shinguards and a soccer ball. Soccer shoes are recommended, but not mandatory.

If you need to pull your child out of Brookfield Soccer before the season starts, you will receive a refund minus $20.00.  BSA does not offer any refunds once the season has started.

Spring

The cost for Spring soccer is $95.00. Do not register online until you have received confirmation that there are openings in your child's age division for spring.  Send an email with players name, date of birth, and grade to info@brookfieldsoccer.com.  Your information will be send to the Division Director who will in turn, let you know if that age division is full or that you can register online, which is located on the main page of this website.  This form can be downloaded and mailed in if you prefer to pay by check.

RAINOUT CANCELLATION POLICY

Regardless of what games are scheduled, Brookfield Soccer may cancel the entire day's game schedule if the weather has created field drainage problems during the week, or if rain is predicted for the day.  Severe weather or snow may also cause a total club cancellation.  PLEASE check the website for any cancellations.  It will be posted by 3:00 pm during the week and 8:30 am weekends.

If a Saturday cancellation decision is made, cancelled games will be made up on the designated Rain Out Make Up Day.  Only one total club cancellation on Saturday that occurs during September for fall and April for spring, will be made up.  Any other total club cancellations during the season are not rescheduled.  Most games will be played with 3 hours being added to the original time but the scheduler may have to adjust some times if they end up being played too late in the day.  This is only for Brookfield Soccer recreational home games.

If BSA closes its fields during the week, and a game is cancelled.  Both teams should contact their Division Director, to reschedule the game.

If a referee cancels a game, and the game's first half is completed, the game is called at the start of the second half, and that game is considered a full game.  If a referee calls a game during the first half, the teams should contact their Division Directors to reschedule the game
